Story time…

Well, story as in novel…

Anyway, a while back i mentioned i was writing a book, and might blog a few extracts to see what people thought of it. The plot is basically:

An immortal character is living on earth, and is just trying to live a normal existance. However, after so long, he’s now the unseen, unsung hero of the planet. Unseen, untill a mysterious organisation, well armed of course, emerges to take on the world. They call for Worlds Defender, the immortal solider who wroks behind the scenes. Can a 17 year old really be that immortal solider? can he prove his worth, keep his friends alive, and save the world… again.

So, in this scene our Hero, whom i’ve used my name for untill i can think of something better, is at a party / sleepover and they’re playing ‘truth or dare’

“Go on” she urged, “It’s your turn”

“Oh” said Austin yawning

“Truth or dare” insisted Sarah

“Truth” grunted Austin chin on hand. There was a quick flurry of whispering and glancing between the girls

“You sure you wanted truth?” asked Dave

“A dare might include movement,” sighed Austin “and I can’t be asked”

“Ok, Austin, the truth question is…” Sarah paused for breath and blushed slightly, “are you a… virgin?” Lucy giggled slightly, Art gasped, and Austin did nothing.

“Yes” he muttered after a short pause

“You’re lying” gasped Jess. Austin merely glanced at her, his half lidded eyes held Jess’ gaze.

“You’re not lying are you?” asked Sarah

“Ah ha! A twitch, you’re guilty,” exclaimed Jess

“I should’ve chosen dare” Austin sighed

“You’ve had sex!” screeched Jess “tell, tell! And don’t spare details!” Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Austin. He said nothing, he didn’t move, but he did yawn.

“You have to do a dare now,” said Sarah, “if you did lie”

“I dare you to tell us about how you’re not a virgin!” interrupted Jess

“Must I?” asked Austin “I don’t want to hurt her feelings by spreading the story around”

“So you’re not a virgin!” interrupted Jess triumphantly

“Isn’t that what you’ve been saying for the last five minutes” sighed Austin “I had hoped a false sob story involving chivalry might put you off the scent”

“So you have a dirty secret?”

“No,”

“So why did you say that stuff about hurting her feelings by telling the story”

“Because it might have shut you up, if I said something about emotions and being sensitive I’d hoped all you girls would go easy on me and give up. However… it seems to have failed” and with that, Austin laid back, flat on the floor. Again, he yawned. Jess crawled over next to him and put one arm over his chest so she had an arm either side of his torso and could look straight down into his face. One knee ended up between Austins legs.

“I know you’re hiding something” she sneered, Austin just stared back his eyes distant. He shook his head suddenly and blinked at Jess.

“Tell me,” she whispered, “tell me your dirty little secret”

“This is romantic,” replied Austin glancing down from her face to her chest. Jess blushed, squealed and retreated holding her pyjama shirt front closed. Austin smirked to himself.

“Pervert” snapped Jess, still blushing. Austin smiled.

“Don’t smile” she said and brought a clenched fist down on his stomach. Far from even slightly winded, Austin couldn’t resist laughing. Art was trying not to laugh, and bit his lip when Jess glared at him, desperate not to smile. Dave was grinning and shaking his head. The girls gathered around Jess.

“Dodgy minded sod!” she called and threw a pillow at Austin

Needless to say, a pillow fight erupted. Boys versus Girls. Austin wielded two, a pillow in each hand, Dave went for a two handed approach, and Art threw them. Jess selected the biggest cushion she could find, Sarah and Lucy went two handed on a pillow each. It was an epic battle

So, what do poeple think, read it and comment. What to comment about? anything? spelling, bad grammar, writing style, any particular bits you liked… i’ll take even bad comments, so go for it!!

Until the next time,

Sitting on a kitten…

Well, not actuallysitting on it…

Perhaps a quick story to lear things  up. From Church, i have friends called Kurt and Rosemary. And recently yhey have adopted a kitten. At eight weeks old it is a tiny, obscenly ute little thing. Now, K and R went away or the weekend, and needed someone to look after, play with, and feed little Beowolf (no idea why it called that). When they announced they needed someone to do said duty at bible study (a lttle group on teusday nights) my younger brother who also attends the group immediatly voulenteered. However, he forgot that he was going over to Cambridge with Mum to collect my older Brother from Uni for the Crimbo Hols. I said i’d gladly look after little Beowolf, and it was agreed that being soo small, he should really have someone with him overnight, so the plan was formed for me to sleep overnight at K and R’s while they were away.

So, i cycled down straight after work, and greeted the litle, lonely kitten who meowed pathetically pleased to see me. After some fuss and attention, i fed him, and strated cooking my dinner (pizza :) ) I played, cuddled stroked, played with Beowolf while having fun with Sky+. It’s brilliant! just pause the TV while you go to the loo or to get some food, or retreive the cat toy from under the sofa for the millionth time. Then fast forward through the seemingly endless adverts! and thier sofa is nice and squishy, low and comfy. I ended up watching Family Guy with little Beowolf sleeping on my lap – and if anything is just too cute to be allowed, it’s that kitten snoozing with his head resting on your arm! Being a guy i don’t often fall for cuteness, but bloody hell – far, far too cute.

Thier lovley double bed was warm (i discovered in the morning it was right nest to a radiator) and i got a good nights sleep. They also had cake, left over from teusday bible studies, but still good. Rosemary makes spectacular Liebkuken (or however its spelt), and the christmas cake is brilliant. And it was lovley and frosty when i left to cycle home, I went across some feilds to get home and it was spectacular! the hissing crunch of bike wheels on frost grass is a fantastic noise.

Overall i really enjoyed it and would happily do it again.

Untill the next time,

right then…

Basically, obviously, i haven’t posted in a fair while.

First of all, sorry ’bout that. And secondly, what to post about? the rate this is going i may as well just do and update on life style of post, a sort of gap filler till i can come up with something… tell ye what, i’ll just cobble together some random bits of whatever and form a post that’ll hopefully be at least slightly interesting.

Now, for those who are still reading (why?) a bit of news seems in order. hmm, last post was at the beginnign of Nov, and it’s now the end of said month. So, whats happened during November?

FIREWORKS! at the annual displaywith church, i got to set light to explody things! leaglly too :-) It was rather fun, rockets, fountains, big boxy barrage sort of things. One rocket failed to lift off, and so exploded at ground level – brilliant, big boom! The entire eveing was fun, the food was nice, the mulled wine was tasty, and the fire was nice and toasty.

Cycling, still pedaling. Nothings going to stop me!! not the weather, not the fact my DiamondBack is buggered, nothing!! Yes, my normal commuter bike is feeling it’s age. Or at least the back wheel is. A major puncture on friday – fixed that evening – monday morning he same tire went 500 yards downhill from house. carried it back up (Ow! 18kg on shoulder not nice) and used my Giant to go to school (locking up over the road at dads work) after the week had played out using my giant to commute (a nice ride for once). Fixed it that weekend, rode it monday and it was fine – teusday morning, went to wheel it out and the back wheel was flat once again. GRRRR! this time, instead of a hole, the valve is dodgy (or more accuratly whee it joins the tube) patched it, went on driving lesson, came back, it seemed fine untill i got it back in the tread and up to 30psi. Doesn’t hold. DAMMIT! so new tube and more riding on me Giant.

Did some voulantarty overtime on Friday 21st. Late night opening / light switch on here in Malvern. Washed up for two and a half hours. We pulled £250 which is really good considering we open for about 7 hours and (on a weekday) get 400 – 500. Anyway, it was fun. And that weekend we had family and friends to stay. While i was at work they went shopping (and even popped in to see me) and picked up Kung Fu Panda on DVD. Thus guess what we watch that evening :-)

Aaand to this week; it’s been a little slow to start, but that doesn’t help when i’m a) mostly asleep and b) i never know what day it is. Also, this week, Thursday is “target setting day”, so I don’t have to go in, yay, and Friday is TED (Teacher Education Day) meaning the school is closed :-) :-) thus we have ourselves a four day weekend!! time to sleeeeep!

I’ve also just had a bit of an idea… i’m writing me a novel. And the idea is to perhaps publish a few extracts on this blog and see what others think of it. Hmmmm….

Until the next post (hopefully decently soon)

1000 Veiws!!

No, i am not talking about the debating commite.

i am talking bout my blog, i.e. this one your reading now. When I checked this blog a week ago, the page veiws were in the 990’s. Then the very next day, they had breached a thousand!! This was 7 days ago (relative to this post) and i’ve only just gotten round to posting about it! Now, i’m sure it’s always nice when an author of a blog reaches his / her first thousand veiws, so i thought i’d put up a simple post about how i’ve reached a thousand page veiws on my blog!

Actually, i’ve seen a thousand veiws on a previous blog, namely the Malvern Red Riders. I was lucky that time because I looked at the blog on the exact day / moment when the veiws were at exactly a thousand! But even so, i only wrote to that blog really, and your own personal blog always feels nicer when it reaches 1000 veiws!

Anyway, enough going-on about 1000 veiws – untill the next post!

Here comes Half Term…

Yup, this comming week is half term!

Most half terms, for me at least, are normally a week off to do sod all. Then do all the homework oveer the last weekend. But this half term is more interesting!!

Quite recently i have invested in a small cork board for my bedroom. Mounted upon this sorkboard is a calendar. Most of this month is empty with a few items on the odd weekend, But then we get to the last week on this months sheet, and it’s full! There is something going on everyday, should be fun!

I’ve got an extra shift at work on monday afternoon. A Prep shift teusday morning and a driving lesson teusday afternoon. Wednesday (hopefully) going to the Forest of Dean to cycle. Thursday is my youngest brothers Birthday. Friday, grandparents (on mothers side) comming to visit / stay overnight. Saturday,a bike ride with church in the morning, Leprosy Lunch at church. then work in the afternoon! And finally, sunday i might go to a  classic bike show at the ShowGround.

So, earning money, learnign to drive and cycling a lot – brilliant!!

I’ll post again over half term if i can find the time!

To become and Apprentice…

In my previous post, I metioned i’d be visiting the HGTA and would post about it after…

Well, this is that following post! A quick recap to start I think. On the 1st of Oct i went ot visit Dytecna, where i was going to meet Stuart, who is in charge of apprentices on the hereford area, but he had to go off for a meeting, so offered me a visit around the HGTA Centre instead.

So, on the14th Oct I went, with Dad, to Hereford. After a bit of head scratching and map reading, we found the correct building. Reception called up, and soon we were shaking hands with Stuart. We head up to an office were we had a breif talk about how the system works. Then we headed downstairs to the workshop area. I fancy joining just to ahve a go on some of those really big lathes! We looked around the welding area, and the equiptment of various ages, we also saw some examples of previous students work. We poked our nose into the Electrical Enginers doing pipework (trhough which to thread wires) and saw some student assembling some control circuits, the final test for these circuits was they would be linked up to an actual motor!

Then we popped up stairs again to see one of the computer rooms where CAD was going on, and shown the program that was being used. And shown through a floder of work, and how the mark scheme worked. It was interesting to see the development from a roughly drawn hand sketch, to 2D and then 3D models of that drawing. And all of it being built up in layers, event he template for the pages the student would be working on was built in layers, which is the first module – making your template, then the drawings get more an more impressive (hopefully). It was all interesting, but i want to more of the hands on stuff, cutting, measuring, welding, generally getting my hands dirty.

My visit to Dytecna really, properly, sparked me off on the idea for and appreticeship, and now i’ve seen the HGTA, i’m really keen to get in there! Thus, i’ll be applying in the future (next year) and will hopefully get in! Also, there is a Worcester branch of the Group for Training Aprrentices, WGTA, which might be intersing to visit, because if I can go there instead of hereford, it’ll be easier for travelling and such.

A lot to be thinking about…

Ahoy there, Apprentice-ship!

As readers of this blog will know, my last post wasn’t too brilliant.

Those of you who don’t read this blog can just scroll down and read the previous posts anyway, but my point still stands! What i failed to mention while high on sugar in the biscuit form was my interesting visit to Dytecna to talk to them about apprenticeships!

It’s a bit late, but hey… Anyway, on Wednesday the first of October, I popped over the road and entered the realm of Dytecna! After a brief wait in Reception, i was greeted by the HR manager, Helen.  An interesting talk about the apprenticeship format followed, which is 4 years – first year is at the Hereford Training Centre, where NVQ 2 is attained. the next 3 years are day release to college while actually working for the company, and obtaining NVQ 3 and higher.

Then Helen showed me aorund the site. First stop was the designs office ‘upstairs’ where i got to talk to a current apprentice who is in his final year. He showed me how the CAD system the use seems simpler and easier than ProDesktop (which is what we use at school). then we went ‘downsatirs’ to the fabrication floor. First into the electrical department, where i talked to Tom, who was in his second year of the apprenticeship, and so in his first year at Dytecna. His views on the Training Centre were interesting, as was his actual job! Out on the actual shop floor was also very interesting, it (apparently) was quite empty (for a change) with only 2 lorries and a something lurking under a tarpaulin. It was explained how all the bits were fitted, and how different people were responsible for the different stages.

It was all very interesting. I certainly want to go for an appreticeship now! I’ll still apply to Uni as a back-up, but my heart is set on Mechanical Engineer or Fabrication and Welding. Also, i was supposed to meet Stuart, who is the Training officer for the Hereford Group of Apprentice Training, (or something like that) but he had to rush off to another meeting. Instead, he offered for myself and Dad to go and visit the actual training centre. After one or two emails, we’ve settled on next tuesday afternoon. i’m throughly looking forward to going.

So, i’ll let you all know how that goes in a future post!

Until the next post!

Toasty post-y!!

Huzzah!

I am currently rather hyper! I got up late so didn’t have breakfast, and then got my hands on some biscuits! and thats all the food i’ve had today, the best part of a roll of choccy biccies! Those two coffees aren’t helping either! weeeeeeeeeee

Thus, being hyper and in a free lesson, i’ve decided to hack inot my blog as post a post! RAH!

The weather has been sunny, but cold (or so i’m told) and thirty seconds ago it started raining! But has stopped already, yay for sudden showers of sky-juice! Why the nuggets does that people carrier have a spoiler? it not like it needs one in particular, tis only a Reault Espace.

Which reminds me… i’m learing to drive! (what d’you mean; oh no) I’ve stareted learnign in my Dad’s Honda Civic. But, this car has no engine noise, or biting-point on the clutch! One session we had to turn the air-con fan off because i couldn’t hear the engine! And the biting-point is easier to find by guessing the angle of ones ankle! Despite that i’m doing quite well, and can do handbrake starts too!

What a pretty could, and thes suns back out! Tenki wa hare desu ne – which is Japanese for: the weather is sunny isn’t it. Japanese is back up and running in the new term, i’m glad I haven’t forgotten everything! although the odd peice of katakana or kanji slips my mind.

Aaaaand, now i’m goign to stand up and doo somethign before I es-bload! (which is explode as a Wozzer-ism)

until the next post,

Insurance…

It happens every year, those in full-time education receive a letter about insurance

And once again, it is quite surprising. As said above, it happens every year, but still i raise an eyebrow. Entitled: Puplis Personal Accident Scheme, it raves on about giving out moeny in case your child hurts their litle self somehow. And then, we turn over to the back…

What immediatly meets the eye is a large list of possible injuries one could procure while at school. From paralysis to loss of limb to loss of sight or hearing to facial disfugrement, even death is included. Sitting here, reading this remarkable list it seems that should i somehow loose an arm i would get £62500. Loss of an arm is one of the more common items here, if i were to loose “intellectual capacity” then i would get £125000

However, how does one define loss of intellectual capacity? If i didn’t get on with a teacher very well, and thus perhaps my grades fell a little, could i get a tidy lump sum claiming this teacher has helped to loose some of my intellectual capacity? Although, the list states “total loss of intellectual capacity” perhaps meaning if i were to fall down the stairs and go brain dead, then i’ll get a nice bit of money to enjoy, even though i couldn’t

I still want to know how a student would manage, at school, to loose a thumb or toe. I would dearly love to know how a student would total loose the use of a lung while at school. i can understand the loss of use of limbs and joints, such as ankle, wrist, shoulder, elbow while playing rugby or having a fall. If you think number 18, “total loss of use of kidney” is strange, then article 22 takes the biscuit, it really does – “total loss of use of spleen” I cannot even begin to think of how…

And finally, i just want to point out that Death pays less than most, it pays more than only one thing, which is facial disfigurement.

Crazy

Just stuff…

The last post was an update, and that was only a short while back,

This is sort of an update, or rather it’s a mention of other things not brought up in the previous update. If you see what I mean (if you do then you’re a step ahead of me)

Anyway, For those of you who care, or don’t, I have updated my Anime List just a few moments ago! Why not have a look, read, point-and-laugh, jaw-drop-at-how-long-it-is or similar! No really, have a look!

DVD Burning: Haven’t done too much recently… a while ago i downloaded and burnt Gundam Seed to DVD, then started on Gundam Seed Destiny. But, I had no DVD’s and so stopped downloading till i had some. By the time i had got my act together and bought some blank disks, the kind supplier of the Destiny series had cancelled it for whatever reason! Thus, I have episodes 1-16, and thats it. I have also burnt Onegai Teacher to disk. I’m currently looking for more Destiny, Ghost in the shell and Chobits. But Ghost-shell ep 9 doesn’t seem to exist, and Chobits refuses to be located. Ah well

Any really observant visitors to this blog may notice an addition to the blogroll – Madame Pikas blog. Followers of this blog will hopefully realise this is the same “pika” i have referred to is past posts, especially when referring to tandems.

And now i’m struggling to think of much else to say, or type seeing as thats more accurate…

Untill the next post!
