Ah, another year comes around…

Indeed, Happy New Year

And a belated Merry Christmas! My Christmas was fine thanks, and yours? I was working christmas eve, in the morning. Also wrapped presents that afetrnoon! Christmas Day went rather quickly, it seemed to be almost over before i’d woken up properly. I got some books I wanted, an inflatable duck (i have a small armarda of rubber ducks), and a few gadgety things including a “flying alarm clock”. And Boxing Day I went on a ride with the Malvern Baptist Church Cyclo Club. It was fun, quite cold, and a record 17 riders rode 13 miles. Starting at the Bluebell pub, we went out to Callow End, through Madresfeild, Leigh Sinton felt our tyres as we rolled through and finally climbed up to my house (which was the mystery destination for this ride) where we had a delicious lunch.

Then, that saturday (27th) I was at work as normal.  Then, never one to relax, i went out on Sunday with Ben up the hills for some fun. It was bloody freeeezing! As people who know me, i don’t feel the cold. I cycle in next to zero tempreatures with short sleeves. But up the top of the Beacon, in that wind, it was frozen, the rocks, grass, ben, me, our bikes. See the Red Riders blog for more details.  Then, on the monday I had a jolly good rest (and revision, but nothing too physical). Teusday, i took my Giant up to Back-On-Track (bike shop near my houose) because it’s rear derallieur is playing up, and i’ve spent hours on it, and Dads given it a few hours and it still doesn’t work too well. The dude in the shop said the chain and consequently the rear sproket has worn out. So, i left it there to be fixed, £45/50 for parts and £24 an hour for labour (he said it was only an hours job). Wednesday (New Years Eve) I was going to drive to Hereford but  thick freezing fog stopped me! It didn’t get above zero degrees C all day! I did drive Mum down to Morrisons in the afternoon when the fog lifted a bit.

And now today, the First of January. I stayed up last night, had a few drinks, but was comming down with a cold (which i still have, but it sort of only a half cold) so didn’t feel up to much else. I watched some fireworks at midnight, then went to be after the episode of Father Ted i was watching had finished. I heaved myself out of bed at about 11:30am, and had roast beef and trimmings for breakfast. As the freezing fog has lifted and the tempreature is still below zero the Hills have frosted over (as has most of Malvern). So, with family, i went for a walk, and it was beautiful up there. The frost has settled on everything, it’s like the Hills have gone from colour to black-and-white over night. Some of my younger siblings and I found it fun to shake the trees while standing under them, so the frost fell like snow. Shortly after we looked like we’d walked through a blizzard! just about every branch I could reach I shook  over me and my siblings. I suggest you try it, it’s brilliant fun!!

Well, this post has turned out like a diary slash claendar sort of thing. Well, as i’m on a roll: tomorow. Tomorrow, I’ve got work in the morning 8-12, then I’ll be going to Back-On-Track to collect my bike (yay! it may sound sad, but i’ve missed it. I really have) and then Dad and I and maybe someone else are going to Hereford, with me driving!! There are a few shops we want to look in that are in Hereford, like bikes 🙂 and i’m also after a book or two. And Dad has hinted he’d like to look in Maplins.

So, what a fun holiday I’ve had!

Untill the next time…
